The character first appeared on television on December 20, 1998, with the rest of Griffin's family in a short span of 15 minutes. Meg Griffin was created and designed by Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, and was asked to do a pilot pitch at Broadcasting Company. MacFarlane created two shorts by a company based on The Life of Larry and Larry & Steve and featured a middle-aged man named Larry and an intellectual dog Steve.
The character is voiced by Rachael MacFarlane, Lacey Chabert, Mila Kunis, Tara Strong, and Ali Hillis. Meg Griffin is a self-conscious and insecure teenage girl. Meg Griffin is treated unfairly by various people and there are numerous insecurities that prompt her to try to be part of the "crowd".
Meg Griffin's result has only been done by many elites in the circle, most notably Connie D'Amico the head cheerleader of the local high school, James Woods Regional High School. However, a nursery student named Neil Goldman is attracted to Meg Griffin.
Meg Griffin is usually a bar of Peter’s jokes that have popularity and “ugliness”. Stevie and Brian ignore Meg Griffin's pity but they usually do it behind her back. Lois constantly keeps Meg Griffin down and boosts her own egoistic image.
While Meg Griffin is usually a pushover when she pushes too far and she can get angry. In the Seahorse Seashell Party episode, Meg Griffin also severely insults and slanders Peter, Lois and Chris for their vague actions towards them and because of this Peter, Lois and Chris distance themselves from shame and send Peter into frustration. In the episode "Road to Rupert" she attacks a man for insulting her after a fender-bender.
Many of the show’s storylines about Meg Griffin include trying to improve her life and find a boyfriend and reach breaking points with her family and other victims.
Meg Griffin is so unpopular at school that a student runs a nail gun twice in her stomach to avoid a date with Meg Griffin and shoots her own brother in the next episode on the pretext of not being shot.
Perverted neighbor Glenn Quagmire has repeatedly shown interest in Meg Griffin and largely because of her very low standards Meg Griffin asks if she has reached the age of consent. Meg Griffin inadvertently loses her virginity on live television to Saturday Night live host Jimmy Fallon after a drastic makeover but before all this can happen Meg Griffin goes out with a rebel at her school named Craig Hoffman.
In the episode "Brian Sings and Swings" a lesbian student named Sarah invites her to join her Lesbian Alliance Club and Meg Griffin didn't know what kind of club it was before. To fit into this he pretends to be his unconscious lesbian and pretends to be attracted to Sarah and even kisses her to prove it.
In another episode Meg Griffin is portrayed as unable to find a boyfriend. For her junior prom she accepts the family’s dog Brian and only the date of mercy after the suicide threat. Meg Griffin showed romantic interest in many men throughout the series and gave a date. However there are many examples in which Meg Griffin has shown signs of being a lesbian. She is considered the eldest child of the Griffin family. Meg Griffin's only talent is that he can whistle the great bird.
