Today we have talk about Sardar Sarovar Dam. Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river. Sardar Sarovar Dam is located on the Navagam, Kevadiya colony, Gujarat in India. The Water and Electricity are supplied from this dam in four Indian states are Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Sardar Sarovar Dam is one of the most famous tourist places in India.

Sardar Sarovar Dam is a gravity dam and made from concrete. It is the largest structure dam. This project was founded by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on 5 April 1961.The height of Sardar Sarovar Dam in May 2002, the Narmada control authority approved increasing the height of the dam to 95 Meter. In March 2004, height increase to 120 Meter. In March 2006 the height is 121.92 Meter. In June 2014 Narmada control authority gave the final clearance to raise height 138.68 Meter. In 17 June 2017 authority raise the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam is 163 Meter by ordering the closure of 30 gates.

The statue of unity is a memorial statue of first Indian home minister and deputy prime minister Vallabhbhai Patel. This statue is founded by the Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi on Sardar Patel's birthday. It is founded on 31 October 2013. This statue is situated at a distance of 3.2 KM from Sardar Sarovar Dam, the height of the statue is 182 Meter (597).

The statue is divided in five zones. Statue was opened to the public on 1 November 2018, and after it 11 days 128,000 tourists visited this place and in five month 1.5 million visitors visit in the place, inside the statue built 3 – star hotel, shopping centre and built high speed elevator that you take height about 400 feet of the statue. There is also a museum and audio visual gallery.

The statue of unity is the world tallest statue, it is 54 Meter higher than the previous record the museum in zone 1 is about the life of Sardar Patel and gallery provide 15 minute presentation about Sardar Patel, the gallery is located at the height of 153 Meter.The entry fee of below 3 year child is free, and another is 350 per person, this ticket includes entry of valley of flowers, Sardar Patel memorial, museum and gallery and Sardar Sarovar Dam. These places are very beautiful and attractions point to the tourist. This visit is very wonderful for the visitors.

The total capacity of the reservoir is 9.5 Kilometre cube, active capacity is 5.8 Kilometre cube, surface area is 375.33 Kilometre square, maximum length is 214 Kilometre, maximum width is 1.77 Kilometre and the maximum water depth is 140 metre. In Sardar Sarovar Dam power station is operated by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited. The total installed capacity is 1,450 MW, the Sardar Sarovar Dam main six power plant house 200 MW Francis pump – turbine to generate electricity and the power plant in main canal is 50 MW Kaplan turbine – generator.

The Sardar Sarovar Dam is one of the largest Water projects of four Indian states. The Narmada canal would be the largest irrigation canal. This irrigation canal is spread in 12 district, 62 talukas and 3,393 villages in Gujarat. Sardar Sarovar Dam is a lifeline of Gujarat. This canal is spread in Gujarat is 17,920 Kilometre square and 730 Kilometre square in area of Barmer and Jalore district of Rajasthan. In 2011 the government of Gujarat decided to generate solar power by solar panel over the canals to benefit of villages, The first solar panel along 25 Kilometre length of the canal, with 25 MW power.
