He was best known for his lead role as Professor Brinkman in the ZDF medical series The Black Forest Clinic, which was one of Klausjürgen Wussow's most successful German television series to date. Klausjürgen Wussow later played another leading role as a doctor in the Clinic Unter Palmen series, which ran between 1996 and 2003.

Klausjürgen Wussow was the new version of the Black Forest Clinic with two television films. Klausjürgen Wussow last played the role of Professor Brinkman in these movies and this is Klausjürgen Wussow's last movie. Klausjürgen Wussow was a writer and illustrator and voice actor and also the announcer of radio plays and audio books. Klausjürgen Wussow dubbed Judge Claude Frollo in the German-language version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Klausjürgen Wussow was married four times. From 1951 to 1960, Klausjürgen Wussow married German actress Jolande Frantz. And she had a daughter. From 1960 to 1991 Jolande Frantz was married to Austrian actress Ida Krottendorf and had two children, a daughter and a son with Klausjürgen Wussow.

From 1992 to 2003, Klausjürgen Wussow married German journalist Yvonne Viehhöver. She had a son. From 2004 to 2007, Klausjürgen Wussow was married for the fourth time to Sabin Schulz, the ex-wife of German boxer Bubi Scholz, and died. Klausjürgen Wussow hadrian Strian honorary citizenship and Aust Strian honorary professor.

Klausjürgen Wussow had been suffering from dementia for several years after several strokes. Klausjürgen Wussow's tomb is located on the "Waldfriedhof Heerstrasse" cemetery in Berlin.
